Admin Users

Users (Administration)

A "User" is a unique individual having access to the Back-end (or Administration) of the NivoCart website. Each user belong to a Group, and each Group is defined by a set of Permissions.


Permissions

Permissions are of two kinds: "Access" and "Modify". They can be Enabled/Disabled independently for each Administration page.

- "Access" gives the user the permission to View the page. If no "Access" permissions have been selected, the user won't be able to view any of the Administration pages.

- "Modify" gives the user the permission to Modify (Add, Edit, Delete, ..) the content of the page. "Modify" requires "Access" to be allowed for the given page.

The Permissions are defined by "User Group" (See below). Each User must belong to a User Group.


User Groups

The "Top Administrator" group is the default Administration group. It is created during Install and gives all Permissions to the Website Owner. It is unique and protected. It can not be edited for security reasons.
The "Top Administrator" group should be treated as a fail-safe recovery account in case the website Administration access has been compromised.

For everyday operations, it is recommended to use the "Administrator" Group, also created during Install, and add new users to it.

You can create as many User Groups as required, each with a different set of permissions. There are no limits.

As we already explained above, Users belong to a User Group which define the permissions this user will have under the Administration.

To Add/Create a new user, simply click "Insert" at the top of the page, and fill the User form with all the required fields.
Users can be Enabled or Disabled. If "Disabled", the User will not be able to login under the Administration.

There are no limits on the number of Users.


User Logs

NivoCart features a comprehensive "User Log" that can be configured as needed. It can track User activity under the Administration, from Logins to Page modifications.

The "User Log" can also record Brute Force attempts by third parties trying to gain unauthorised access to the Administration.
